Hilarious! But you definitely have to see the "Kill Bill" trailer to get it. I don't think Mel would be happy that they spoofed it with the soundtrack.
I like you Ignored_one was smiling at this one.
You either get it or ya don't.

Nag Hammadi Coptic Text
BLATZ (12) The disciples said to Jesus: We know that you will depart from us; who is it who will be great over us? Jesus said to them: Wherever you have come, you will go to James the Just, for whose sake heaven and earth came into being. | LAYTON (12) The disciples said to Jesus, "We are aware that you will depart from us. Who will be our leader?" Jesus said to him, "No matter where you come it is to James the Just that you shall go, for whose sake heaven and earth have come to exist." | DORESSE 13 [12]. The disciples say to Jesus, "We know that Thou wilt leave us: who will <then> be the great<est> over us?" Jesus says to them: "Wherever you go, you will turn to James the Just, for whose sake heaven as well as earth was produced." |
Scholarly Quotes
Marvin Meyer refers to the quote of Hegesippus on James the Just in Ecclesiastical History 2.23.4-7 and quotes from Secret James 16:5-11 on his authority: "So, not wishing to give them offense, I sent each one of them to a different place. But I myself went up to Jerusalem, praying that I might acquire a share with the beloved ones who will appear." (The Gospel of Thomas: The Hidden Sayings of Jesus, p. 74)
Robert M. Grant and David Noel Freedman write: "The answer which Jesus gives is again related to the conversation in the Gospel of John, where Jesus tells the disciples that he is going away to prepare a 'place' for them (John 14:2-3). In Thomas, however, the 'place' is apparently earthly rather than heavenly; it is a place in which they are to go to James the Just, 'for whose sake the heaven and the earth came into existence.' This exaltation of James is characteristic of Jewish-Christian and Naassene tradition . . . it may be derived from the Gospel of the Hebrews. Doresse suggests (page 140) that James may here be regarded as a supernatural power, but there is nothing in Thomas which could favor such an interpretation." (The Secret Sayings of Jesus, p. 131)
Gerd Ludemann writes: "The logion recalls the disciples' conversations about status which we know from Mark 9.33-34. To be precise, the saying regulates the succession to Jesus (cf. the Paraclete in John 14.16, 26; 15.26; 16.7 and Peter as the follower of Jesus in John 21.15-17). James is not only given the predicate 'righteous' (cf. Acts 7.52), but is also assigned a role in creation. All these sayings came into being in Jewish-Christian circles where James later became 'the pope of Ebionite fantasy' (H. J. Schoeps)." (Jesus After 2000 Years, p. 596)
F. F. Bruce writes: "This saying originated in a Jewish-Christian setting where James the Just, Jesus' brother, was regarded as the natural leader of Jesus's disciples after Jesus's departure. James was actually leader of the Jerusalem church for fifteen to twenty years, until his death in A.D. 62; his memory was revered and enhanced by legendary embellishments. Here a high estimate is placed on his person: in Jewish thought the world was created for the sake of the Torah, [Assumption of Moses 1.2; Genesis Rabbah 1.25.] although in one rabbinical utterance 'every single person is obliged to say: "The world was created for my sake."' [TB Sanhedrin 37b]" (Jesus and Christian Origins Outside the New Testament, pp. 117-118)
Robert Price writes: "So to be called the Pillars indicated quite an exalted status. We can see the same sort of godlike veneration reflected in Thomas, saying 12 . . . 'Wherever you come from' refers to the obligation of missionary apostles to check in with a report to James in Jerusalem, another measure of his importance." (Deconstructing Jesus, p. 53)
Well... your thoughts....

the last convention i went to was about three months ago now....ahhh i remember it well...zzzzzzz.
the c.o got on the stage and counseled ones to plan theocratic vacations instead of regular type hot-spot get away vacations.. he then proceeded to say many brothers spend their families vacations by taking them to disneyland instead of a bethel tour.
(which most children would love).
The WTS did buy Disney. Here is some of their new attractions:
1. PIONEERS of the CARRIBEAN
2. ANIMAL KINGDOM HALL
3. THE MAGIC KINGDOM
4. THE MANY ADVENTURES OF WINNIE THE PROPHET
5. THE HAUNTED THEOCRATIC MINISTRY SCHOOL MANSION
6. MGM now stands for MANY GOOD MISSIONARIES

Actually my brother got disfellowshipped for something he should not have. That blew my dad's mind, knowing the scriptures the way he did. So he started looking into things. One thing led to another and presto! The REAL truth showed it's head.

Me and my dad are very close. My brother and Mom (That's all of us.) are also doing well and free. I know I am one of the lucky ones. We are all out and very close. The rest of my family, relatives and etc. We are just starting to see each other. Everyone is spread out across the country. But now we actually communicate. Before my escape. There was no contact with anyone outside the Org.

Hi everyone!
Well, I've posted a few topics already and responded to a few. And spoke with some of you. Well I just wanted to give you a little background on me. This way you have an idea of where I'm coming from.
First of all I was born a JW so I knew nothing else growing up. I Was in the matrix and involved with the borg for about 19 years. (right in Brooklyn itself, the world headquarters, Yeah baby!!) Did the entire gamut of things in that period of time. Meetings, assemblies, witnessing, talks, the whole thing. Got baptized early on, was forced too, pressured by father. I couldn't even tell you the date. Anyway, then at about age 20 I slowly drifted away. Moved out of state, just got away from everything. Then one day my dad sent me an e-mail with some very interesting stuff. Of course my first reply was "I don't know you and how did you get my e-mail you apostate!" Talk about being brain washed here I am now about seven years later, inactive, and still have the JW mindset.
Anyway after I realized it was my Dad. I was flipping out. We started talking and chatting. I couldn't believe it. (Now, at this point I'm not going to meetings or anything, nobody really knew I was a JW except some close friends in my new state here.) My dad was still an elder in the congragation. He was one of the best too. If you had a problem, you went to him. Other elders came to him. He had to correct many bethelites because they didn't know their bible as well as my dad. Anyway, he is right there in the middle of it all.
We start chatting and looking into to stuff, he mails me a copy of "Crisis of Conscious" by Ray Franz. I was blown away. Anyway, more reading, more dissecting and now finally total free of mind. This was about ten years ago, so now I am extremelly happy. My entire family is no longer involved. I'm lucky that everyone got out and is free of thought now.
Like George Carlin said, "I was a catholic(in this case JW) until I reached the age of reason."
That age will be different for everyone.
Now my view on the society:
Here is a group of people that are willfully misleading others. They KNOW they don't have the truth. (I'm talking about the main guys here, not all those that are sucked in at bethel and brainwashed) They KNOW they are just running a business. The fact that their teachings are always being changed. The fact that they ALLOW and COVER-UP all there wrong doings and injustice, makes me sick. They are full of so much bloodguilt and they KNOW it. That's what makes the organization so disgusting.
If they really didn't know they were wrong, and they were just following there history of their beliefs, all the way back to Russell (That pyramid worshiping freak.) Then fine.
But they KNOW! They KNOW they are deliberately misleading people, and hiding the TRUTH. This isn't a case of "Oh my God we were wrong all along!" No! It's a case of "Yeah, we know we're wrong, but we're a bussiness, an orginization, we can't just come out with the truth. We have to tell them this is God's ordained ONLY orgnization on earth. Any mistakes is the light getting brighter."
Well guess what guys "The light just got so f***ing bright I'm blind! And now I can see clearly. Thank you."
O.k. last point: Why Freddy Krueger?
Well, here's an archetype who's presence goes against all that is good and all that is sacred. Well that's how the society portrays themselves. In my opion Freddy is more sacred then the society. There is no hidden agenda there. To me truth is sacred. Freddy is truth.
FREDDY: You see evil, you know it, you have a nightmare, you die! (self expanatory)
SOCIETY: You see evil(them), you know it(no you don't) you have a nightmare(them, but you think it is a wonderful dream, all the promises of paradise and ressurrection and love), you die! (this is the only true part.) As long as you are in the society you are dead to everything. Family, friends, holiday's, true love, life itself. Then you will die physically. And you would of missed out on a gloriously free life only to find out in the end we all are going to the same place. Beliefs are many. The end result..... The same!
P.S. I like horror movies, maybe that has something to do with it. (LOL)
O.k. Well that's my bio. Hope it wasn't too long. Please write back with a hello so I know someone actually read this. I look forward to meeting you all and chatting. Thanks. You can wake up now. Freddy outta here.

hey folks, does anyone have any experience in writing a screenplay.
i want to turn trb into a screenplay, but i'm not sure just how to go about doing it.
i would appreciate any suggestions you might have.
Thunder -
I write them myself. There are many web resources on the net. The best thing you can do is read other screenplays. Lot's of them. Make sure they are industry standard. You will learn a lot from just reading properly formatted screenplays. Also, now this sound ssimple - Watch movies. The more you watch, the more you learn about structure. Also a good screenwriting software helps a lot. It allows you to get your thoughts down while the program does the formatting for you. I use Movie Magic Screenwriter myself. As far as schools... Don't spend too much money on classes. Most you can learn yourself. However a small investment at a local college or nite class isn't a bad idea.
Here's a link to screenplay's you can check out.
http://www.dailyscript.com/movie.html
Also if you have a DVD player. A lot of movies contain their scripts on the disc. Just pop them in your computer and you have it. You can also jump to the scene while viewing the screenplay.
Hope this helps. If you need any other info, drop me a PM.

as a jw, we were taught that almost any conversation could/should be twisted adapted into a witnessing situation.
we were continually urged to watch for "witnessing opportunities".. someone says, "i wonder if we'll ever get out of iraq", and you were supposed to say "that situation shows man's inability to rule.
do you think god will act to rescue mankind and assure good rulership?".
Actually informal witnessing always felt easier for me. I didn't feel like I was imposing on people the way you do knocking on a door. However there were times where I didn't say anything and it seemed like an opportunity to SAVE someone. And now I blew it. Yes at the time I did feel guilty, that's what the thinking of a cult does to you.
Now, I thank my lucky stars for every person I didn't talk to back then. Those are the ones I SAVED from turning there lives into a complicated, religious mess of cultic proportions.
Those I did change over to the darkside I appologize, and am working hard now to get you all out of the matrix.
